What You'll Learn

  • Sensitivity, specificity, and likelihood ratios to improve diagnostic accuracy
  • A hypothesis driven approach to exam selection
  • Examination techniques to appreciate abnormal findings when they are present

Description

In this course, Dr. Rich Barrett will focus on common and important diagnoses in naturopathic primary care.  He will emphasize an Evidence-Informed Approach (EIP) and subsequently review signs and symptoms that are the most accurate in making a diagnosis. Dr. Barrett will then go on to review and practice the physical examination and share pertinent calculators, and decision tools.

Overall, this will be an active course where students are encouraged to have a laptop or smartphone and some medical equipment handy as well as to wear clothes comfortable enough to practice the physical examinations as part of this course.
