Description

How can ND’s best treat elders? This course provides a solid overview of geriatrics in naturopathic medicine in order to help get you started. Dr. Fleming starts out by looking at the foundations and discussing the meaning of senescence and how this directly affects humans. Dr. Fleming will provide an overview of what a normal aging process ideally looks like and the impact the quality of our sleep and nutrition and exercise can have for our older patients.

Dr. Fleming looks into age-appropriate patient assessment and mentions a few conversational skills that directly impact practice effectiveness when working with elders. This course will also cover the critical issue of ageism that affects our patients both in daily life as well as specifically when receiving health care and closes by exploring the concept of Elderhood.

If you’re regularly treating elderly patients in your practice, then this course is just right for you!

Dr. Alethea Fleming, ND is a naturopathic physician and passionate advocate for naturopathic geriatric medicine. She is a Bastyr University graduate and earned a certificate in Gerontology from the University of Washington.

Dr. Fleming, ND is committed to providing whole-person compassionate care to adults.
