Description
Obesity and type 2 diabetes often walk into the office together and the poor health outcomes associated with obesity have been recognized for decades – yet, despite sugar-free, fat-free, “lite” foods, we are, as a nation, fatter than ever before.
Type 2 diabetes used to be a condition seen only in wealthy white men, however, now it’s a common finding in adolescents, and irrespective of skin tone. These are leading causes of death in the US every year – and so is iatrogenesis! Too many people are told to believe that their disease is due to faulty genes, will continue for the remainder of their lives, and prescription drugs are the best way to manage the issue. As a vitalist naturopath, Dr. Fleetwood wholeheartedly disagrees!
Obesity and type 2 diabetes are lifestyle-driven diseases. Maybe it’s food choices, maybe it’s a belief about self, maybe it’s related to unresolved trauma – but prescription drugs won’t alter any of those! Some patients would prefer to have their disease managed and that is their choice and there are plenty of doctors happy to comply; other patients are desperately seeking a practitioner that will help them achieve health!
This course series is designed to show another way — disease reversal — while also pointing out what the prescriber (and deprescriber) needs to know about the drugs in the disease-managed patient.
