Rubrics are essential to the practice of homeopathy. The repertory is made up of hundreds of thousands of rubrics that have been compiled by the most renowned Homeopathic physicians of the profession. Learning to find these rubrics, understanding exactly what they mean, and how to study remedies through them will enhance our knowledge and utility of both the repertory and materia medica. We will be exploring the practice of turning observations and signs into useful rubrics, defining unique and arcane terms, and exploring twenty remedies in-depth. These twenty remedies will be split into ten injury remedies, and ten cough remedies. We will also explore these remedies in terms of miasm, known sensation, and unique, single remedy rubrics.

Lesson 1: Observations and Signs

Turn observations into rubics.
You’re with a client and you are constantly noticing things about them – but what do you do with this information? How do you translate your observations into meaningful rubrics?

For example, perhaps you’ve noticed your client’s ears were red or their fingernails were bitten all the way down? Have you ever thought to look at your client’s tongue to see if it was indented? And how do you use that information? Do you know the difference between jerking and twitching? (There is a difference; and it matters!) These are all valuable insights in your client’s case that are often challening to translate to repertory language and find the best rubric for repertorization!

Lesson 2: Unique and Arcane Terms

Understand cryptic repertory language.
The repertory is filled with language originating in the 1800s. How can we select the best possible rubrics if we don’t have a deep understanding of what the language of a given rubric even means?

For example, you may have seen rubrics with terms like petulent, ardent, affectation, sardonic smile, proud flesh, phagedenic, and amativeness. And countless others. What do all of these words mean in repertory language and when do we actually use these rubrics?

In this webinar, Dr. Zorn will overview many of the cryptic, unqiue, and archane terms in the repertory. He will support you in feeling confident in translating archaic repertory terms into modern language.

Lessons 3 & 4: Injury Remedies

We know that homeopathy is a powerful modality for acute injuries; you’ve probably experienced the wonders of Arnica in acute care. The homeopathic toolkit expands greatly beyond Arnica, and there may be remedies you wouldn’t think to use that may be the perfect indication.

For example, which remedy comes to mind for injuries to the eye? Would you ever think of Hammamelis (which is actually a great indication for this remedy)? We often think of Arnica for soft tissue injury, but what about for injury to the soft tissue of the heart? Based on the work of James Tyler Kent, which remedy is classic for injury to the coccyx? Dr. Zorn will explore all of these questions and more.

Do you know what a Nat Mur cough is like? Beyond the characteristic temperament and constitutional symptoms, would you know how to prescribe Nat Mur based on cough symptoms alone?

Dr. Zorn teaches us to start looking at remedies beyond their stereotypical constitutional symptoms. Especially with polychrest remedies, we tend to want to prescribe primarily on temperament, lacking a deeper understanding of the symptom picture of the remedy.

In these two webinars, Dr. Zorn will lead an in-depth look at important cough remedies like Rumex, Ignatia, Aconitum, Ipecac, Bryonia, Cuprum, and others. He will discuss indications (including Boger’s indications), miasms, and critical cough rubrics to use.

Matthew Zorn received his Bachelors degree of Science from the State University of New York at Purchase in 1998. He then went on to receive his Homeopathic training from the accredited naturopathic medicine program at NCNM in 2002.

As a perpetual student of medicine, healing, life, and human nature Matt strives to continue to broaden his understanding of homeopathy/wellness and this phenomenon we call the human experience. Of great interest is the practice of Homeopathy and how it helps human beings to heal based on clearly defined principles. He has been using homeopathy in a clinical setting for the last 19.5 years treating a multitude of acute and chronic illnesses. Over the years, he has taught homeopathy to both professionals and laypersons.
