Description

The statistics around postpartum disorders are alarming: 1 in 7 mothers experience postpartum depression. Between 5-10% of women will develop postpartum thyroiditis in the first year. Mothers are deeply struggling with health issues while also trying to care for their young babies. As practitioners, we are in a unique position to help women feel balanced and healthy on their motherhood journey.

Dr. Angela Potter’s private practice focuses on postpartum mood disorders. In this course, she will share her years of experience and distill them down into helpful clinical pearls. She’ll share how to distinguish the difference between baby blues and postpartum depression and screening tools for each. A review of the best labs to consider and case studies will be presented, as well as breastfeeding-safe herbs, homeopathics, and supplements. Dr. Potter will share her own personal postpartum journey and leave you with tools to create a better bedside manner when working with postpartum women in your practice. She will share how to provide informed care when working with mothers including how to talk about their birth, breastfeeding, and their healing journey in an informed and inclusive way.

Instructor

Dr. Potter is a leading holistic doctor supporting mothers in their healing process after birth. After the birth of her first baby she came face-to-face with the hardships mothers frequently experience after giving birth. She was amazed at how much pressure is put on mothers and how little support is given for whole-body wellness in this very unique time in a woman’s life. From there she developed her Postpartum Wellness Protocol that she uses with mothers nationally.

Dr. Potter has been interviewed for Healthline.com for postpartum-specific articles. She is a nutritionist as well as a doctor. Her office is located in Portland, Oregon where she lives with her husband and two toddlers. Find out more at www.drangelapotter.com.
