This 2.5-hour online course will focus on digestion, as well as the impact of diet on the microbiome, vagal nerve feedback, and the brain. We will compare and contrast vegetarian diet and Standard American Diet (SAD) on microbiota, and explore the FODMAP diet and clinical symptoms that indicate its use. As it is the instructor’s area of expertise, this course will consider genetic and epigenetic factors influencing our microbiome, and the impact these have on stress, cortisol, and weight management. Highlighting the relationship between microbiome and food, and the mitochondria/microbiome performance relative to autism and the genetic potential to overall health, we will examine the clinical impact of diet, stress, pharmaceuticals, environmental pollutants, and sleep.
